Dog Obedience Classes

A fun way to teach your dog obedience is enrolling into a dog obedience class.  Dog obedience classes come in different types that will depend on the overall objective it pursues.  For instance, there are classes that are aimed at providing your dog with strict instruction for them to earn a certification.  The trainers at these classes are very experienced and prepared;  this may be what you are looking for if you want to go beyond basic commands or if you are planning to give your dog instruction to win some titles in the future.

Other types of classes help you and your dog learn the basics of dog obedience.  These dog obedience classes are mostly aimed at new dog owners.  They are easy to find, but the downside is that they have many attendees; this makes it difficult for the instructor to focus each one individually.

When looking for a dog obedience class – especially classes where there are a lot of attendees - I have found that it is better to find someone who can recommend you one.  Why?  Because as I said before it is hard to find instructors that pay individual attention to you, and even when you find someone who does it, they only pay attention to a select few, practically ignoring the rest. Over time the feeling of frustration only grows bigger.

Where can You Find Dog Obedience Classes?

If you know someone who has attended a class, you can use his/her help, if not, perhaps the best place to start looking for dog obedience classes is with your veterinary.  Since they work with dogs, they know for sure about classes in your area. Also, take advantage of the Internet; use a search engine like Google or Yahoo and search for the term “dog classes” plus your city or area, for example “dog classes buffalo”.  Be careful when choosing your class though and try to find out more about the instructors and methods used.
